two collection-based touring
exhibitions and six public programs
attracted more than 27 000 visitors to
regional queensland venues.
the exhibition ‘frame by frame: asia
pacific artists on tour’ showcased a
broad cross-section of works by artists
working in the media of photography
and moving image from across the
contemporary asian, pacific and
australian collections, including
many acquisitions from apt5. the
nine-venue tour which began in 2009,
and concluded at the rockhampton
art gallery on 7 march 2010.
as part of the annual children’s
summer festival, a day of free
activities was held around the state
on 16 January 2010, with 40 regional
queensland venues participating.
kids’ apt on tour featured eight
activities developed by artists from
‘the 6th asia pacific triennial of
contemporary art’ (apt6), some of
which were specially adapted for the
regional festival.
first displayed at the queensland
art gallery, ‘namatjira to now’
highlighted works by indigenous
australian artists from the
hermannsburg school, including
albert namatjira, and included
watercolours, ceramics and acrylic
paintings on canvas. the travelling
exhibition opened at the stanthorpe
regional art gallery in may 2009 and
concludes in January 2011 at the gold
coast city art gallery.
