the premier of queensland’s national
new media art award is the most
significant award for new media in
australia. the award and exhibition
recognise the highest achievements
in contemporary new media art in
australia. and, the premier
of queensland’s national new
media art scholarship encourages
emerging artists.
the seven artists and collaborations
shortlisted for the 2010 acquisitive
award were philip brophy, nigel
helyer, chris howlett, isobel
knowles and Van sowerwine,
wade marynowsky, soda_Jerk
and Lynette wallworth. the artists
adopt challenging and innovative
approaches to the use of media
such as video, digital animation
and gaming, robotics, sound and
interactive technologies. this year’s
winner of the $75 000 award was
isobel knowles and Van sowerwine,
for their work
You Were In My Dream
2010, which also received the ‘people’s
choice’ award.
