ron mueck’s sculptures are some
of the most widely acclaimed and
identifiable contemporary sculptural
works. featuring celebrated works
from australian and international
collections, in addition to new
sculptures, this national gallery of
Victoria (ngV) touring exhibition was
one of the most comprehensive surveys
of the australian-born, London-based
sculptor ever presented.
the queensland art gallery’s ron
mueck sculpture, In bed 2005,
featured in the popular exhibition,
which attracted outstanding
attendances – totalling over 185 000
during the exhibition’s 86 day season.
the premier of queensland and
minister for the arts, anna bligh, mp ,
announced that after the completion
of the ngV tour, In bed would visit
selected regional queensland venues
in 2011 to mark the fifth anniversary
of the opening of goma.
‘ron mueck’ was a national gallery
of Victoria touring exhibition.
over 12 000 people attended volunteer-guided
daily tours of the exhibition.

i loved every little intricate detail of his work,
it was amazing. l could have stayed all day.
it was like looking at live people.
you had to see it to believe it.
