Your Gallery
bequest at work
The wishes of individual donors can shape the type of benefit their
bequest provides to the Gallery. Generally, however, bequests to the
Gallery support the following three key undertakings:
Expanding the Collection
Art museums are defined by the quality and significance of their
collections. Consequently, the expansion and preservation of the Gallery’s
Collection is a fundamental part of our purpose. While the Collection has
a strong historical art founding, we are incredibly proud of the critical
and popular recognition of our growing collections of contemporary art
over the past two decades. The generosity of donors remains critical to
enabling the Gallery to continue to build a rich and layered Collection
with enough depth and scope to benefit all in the community.
Presenting major exhibitions
Each year, the Gallery presents a program of major exhibitions that
has made the institution one of Australia’s most significant cultural
tourism destinations. Your bequest could help to secure an international
exhibition for an exclusive Australian showing at the Queensland Art
Gallery or Gallery of Modern Art, or help to fund curatorial research
for the high-profile ‘Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art’ series
of exhibitions.
Educating and inspiring through
public programs
Funds bequeathed to the Gallery can also be directed to supporting
programming initiatives such as artist projects for young people in the
Children’s Art Centre; travelling exhibitions in regional Queensland;
Australian Cinémathèque film programs; and a wide range of public
events such as talks, tours, performances and symposiums.
