Henry Bartlett,
CMG, OBE,
is a valued Special Patron of the QAGOMA
Foundation. His remarkable life has encompassed a career in foreign
diplomacy and many important roles, including British Deputy High
Commissioner in Brisbane and Trustee of the Queensland Art Gallery.
Henry and his wife Amanda shared a common interest in the arts
throughout their 67 years of marriage, having first met at the Ruskin
School of Drawing at Oxford University, United Kingdom, where Henry
studied drawing.
Henry’s bequest to the Gallery takes the form of the Henry and
Amanda Bartlett Trust, which was established in 2004. The Trust
has enabled the acquisition of many important works for the Gallery’s
Collection, with a special focus on historical Asian art.
