Nature hat
Colour and pattern are not the
only ways people and animals
camouflage themselves — they
also use materials from their
surroundings.
For example, some
crabs hide by putting seaweed
on their backs! You too can make
a clever natural disguise. Tie or
weave flowers, leaves and sticks
onto a hat. Wear your hat while
you try to sneak up on insects and
animals in your garden. Take along
a notepad and some markers so
you can draw what you find.
Be sure to look carefully at all the
colours and patterns around you!
Hiding at home
With a friend or group of friends,
dress in the same colours or
patterns. Create a backdrop at
home that matches what you are
wearing. You could document your
camouflage scene with photographs
or video to
see how well you blend
in with the background
.
