Ani sh Kapoor

Void (#13)

1991–92

Anish Kapoor’s works are informed by psychologist Carl Jung’s

ideas of collective unconsciousness, as well as concepts

of duality in Hindu and other philosophies concerned with

understanding the ‘wholeness’ of our experience of life.

His sculptures are often concave or convex forms through

which he explores the ideas of origin, and place or space, in a

metaphysical context. In front of works like

Void (#13)

, the viewer

is captured by its mesmerising, radiant blue, experiencing the

work in a way that involves the body and the mind.
