The Drawing Room

We invite all visitors to take up pencil and paper and enjoy The Drawing Room — a large–scale creative space inspired by Matisse and his working environments. With an abundance of objects and changing displays to draw, as well as live music and models, it is situated in the heart of the ‘Matisse: Drawing Life’ exhibition. Visitors can also send virtual drawings to friends using a touchscreen tablet. Read more

Celebrate the opening weekend of ‘Matisse: Drawing Life’ and join a range of visiting guest curators and specialists to learn more about the life and work of Henri Matisse.

Saturday 3 December

11.30AM Discussion: An Artist Abroad (Cinema A)
Local, national and international guests share insights into Matisse’s life and travels, from Paris and Nice in France, to North Africa and Tahiti. Chaired by Miranda Wallace, Curatorial Manager, International Art, Exhibitions and Research. Free. No bookings required.
1.30PM In Conversation: A Life in Line (The Fairfax Gallery, Gallery 1.1)
Exhibition curators Céline Chicha-Castex, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Prints, Bibliothèque nationale de France, and independent curator Emilie Ovaere-Corthay tour the exhibition with Miranda Wallace, Curatorial Manager, International Art, Exhibitions and Research. No bookings necessary, however, an exhibition ticket is required.
