MICHAEL

PAREKOWHAI

THE PROMISED LAND

28 MARCH – 21 JUNE 2015

GOMA

CURATOR / MAUD PAGE, DEPUTY DIRECTOR,

COLLECTION & EXHIBITIONS

An exhibition of two decades of sculpture, photography and

installation by one of New Zealand’s leading artists, ‘The Promised

Land’ featured works from throughout Parekowhai’s career, with

some recast in new media or at different scales. The exhibition

drew on his longstanding relationship with the Gallery, and his

reputation for wry comment on national narratives, colonial

histories and popular culture.
