Robinson’s depiction of the cows, chooks and goats that populated his Birkdale farm reveals a little of the individual natures of the animals, without anthropomorphising them to the point of parody. In particular, Josephine and Rosie’s expressions convey much about each cow’s personality. The playful or mischievous nature of the goats is captured in their game of ‘hide and seek’ behind the corrugated iron shed, while the majestic rooster strides amongst the chaos.
