The Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) and Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) today announced renowned American artist and filmmaker David Lynch would make his first Australian public appearance, exclusively in Brisbane on Saturday 14 March 2015.

QAGOMA Director Chris Saines said that 'David Lynch: In Conversation', to be held in association with QPAC, was part of the artist's first visit to Australia for the major exhibition 'David Lynch: Between Two Worlds' showing at GOMA from 14 March to 7 June 2015.

''David Lynch: In Conversation' at QPAC from 2.30pm on Saturday 14 March will be a rare opportunity to hear firsthand from the acclaimed director and artist,' said Mr Saines.

Lynch's appearance in Australia and this conversation event has been supported by Arts Queensland through the Super Star Fund, a Queensland Government initiative that delivers super star performances exclusively to the State.

'David Lynch: In Conversation' is part of a program of events accompanying the Gallery's Lynch exhibition which includes a masterclass with the artist for film students from local universities, special music and film events, as well as a program of late night openings.

QPAC Chief Executive John Kotzas said they were delighted to be working in association with QAGOMA to jointly host the special event.

“David Lynch: In Conversation' will provide insights into Lynch's life, work and many of his passions including painting, film, music and meditation. Lynch's first public appearance in Australia is an exciting opportunity for our audiences in Queensland and right across the country to hear from this inspiring, multi-disciplinary artist,' said Mr Kotzas.

'David Lynch: Between Two Worlds' is an extensive retrospective at GOMA of Lynch's art, cinema and music, including rarely seen paintings and drawings, a wide selection of photography, music recordings and a retrospective of his film, video and television works.
