Continuing until 14 April, the Gallery's Australian Cinémathèque presents two major cinema programs as part of 'The 7th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art' (APT7), the latest instalment of QAGOMA's flagship contemporary art series.
Mountains and Waters: Chinese Animation Since the 1930s features exquisite works of animation that draw on long-standing aesthetic traditions and techniques, including ink-wash painting, shadow plays, papercuts, puppetry and woodblock prints. This fortnight showcases independent animations from Hong Kong and Taiwan. Don't miss celebrated Taiwanese animator Tseng Hui-Ching introducing her work at the 4.00pm screening on Saturday 23 February.
Change: Paths Through 20 Years of Film uses the motif of change to explore 20 years of filmmaking throughout the region, highlighting a contemplative mode of storytelling that sets individual experience within the context of broader social change. |
