Annual Review 2017
In an unprecedented world exclusive, the art of the Marvel Cinematic Universe came to Brisbane in an epic exploration of props, costumes, set design and artwork from the filmmaking process. From the breakthrough Iron Man 2008 to massive pieces from the set of Thor: Ragnarok 2017, the intertwining stories of the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange and Ant-Man were unpacked across GOMA’s ground floor. Highlights included Tony Stark’s Iron Man armour, the Hulk’s bed from Ragnarok and the mighty throne of Asgard. Interactives allowed visitors to further investigate the interconnected narratives and look behind the screens with augmented reality, green screen and special effects breakdowns. The exhibition set a new QAGOMA record for a ticketed exhibition with almost 270 000 visitors over 100 days.
